Adolf – Adi - Dassler started to produce his own 100% Leather sports shoes in his mother's wash kitchen after his return from World War I. In 1924, his business became known as Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory) .Adi followed three guiding principles in his development work, driven by his passion for shoemaking and sports. - To produce the best footwear to serve the needs of sports - To protect the athlete from injury - To make the product durable. In 1928 his trainers appeared in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam. 1956 heralded the first sports sponsorship at the Melbourne Olympics. In 1961 Adidas branched out from trainers into footballs and clothing. At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, 80% of all athletes sported the familiar Adidas 3 striped footwear. In 1972 The Adidas trefoil logo was introduced. It represents the continental plates coming together in the spirit of the Olympics. In the same year, the European Championships was won by the German national football team wearing Adidas boots. « Back |
