Born in 1935 (commissioned by the Chinese communist government as the people’s everyday shoe and then worn by Chinese athletes) “Hui Li” as it is known in China, would grow to become a household name throughout the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. Today the brand is a cultural icon, and loved by alternative youth in Beijing and Shanghai.
